DESCRIPTION

To improve the accessibility for mobility impaired people of Collegio Cairoli preserving its historical and architectural values. Collegio Cairoli (1781) is an accommodation for students of the University of Pavia, managed by EDiSU, in the historical centre of the town. To insert a new platform lift (ThyssenKrupp Encasa) in the south-east side of the building. The platform lift links the ground floor with the first floor, where there are the main common spaces. The project is developed following the aim to preserve the original character of the historical building. Limiting the interventions (both demolitions and new constructions) and ensuring its complete reversibility, the platform lift placed inside the historical spaces answers the need to preserve the building’s original aspect.
